I just got back from seeing BB King and Buddy Guy.
BB's set was plagued with sound problems. How disappointing. The crowd was not into it.
Mr. Buddy Guy played the panties off of everybody. He burned stuff down. Wow! He played an Albert King song so low down and dirty that I almost cried.
I feel privileged to be able to see these men play. I noticed there were not that many people my age in the crowd. Hippies, stadium rockers, hair banders and kids around Chris's age were all represented, but I just didn't see that many from the MTV generation. Where are you guys?

Out
Dennis and I went out for a night on the town last night. It involved a shiny shirt and three beers. I was a hipster for one night, as I drank a PBR in public. First, last & only PBR. I started the night with a Full Moon and a Schlafly Pale Ale. All three were Dennis's choice, as I was sending him to the bar.
We saw Belleview and The Estranged, the newer band Tony Stone is playing in at Firebird.

BB King & Buddy Guy
Since I've decided to go to more concerts this year, I bought myself a floor ticket to B.B. King and Buddy Guy at the Family Arena on February 18th.

Resolved
I don't usually make New Year's Resolutions. I do tend to eat a little better in January to atone for the "since Thanksgiving sweets binge" I go on every year.
This year, however, I am resolving to go to more concerts.
I had asked for Monster's Ball tickets before the concert was even officially announced. I would gladly trade all of my Christmas gifts for this one small thing.
Now tickets are unobtainable to mortal beings.
So I officially decided yesterday that I was not going to miss any more concerts I want to see this year. I don't need to drag Dennis along. I can get much better seats if I buy a single.

Winter Wonderland
Chris participated in a St. Charles Bicentennial concert at Lindenwood University this afternoon.
Here's a video of the Eight Grade Orchestra doing "Winter Wonderland".

Trans-Siberian Orchestra
We went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra this evening. Chris gets one hour extra credit practice time for going to a concert!
We had a blast at the concert. Chris loved it. There was a big storm while we were there, and when we walked back to the car, we passed a bunch of flooded cars in City Hall's parking lot. Brrr, those poor people!
I haven't been to a concert with lasers and pyro for a long time. It felt like too long. Cool.

Coldplay
One billion violins!
This is the entire St. Charles public school orchestra - from fourth grade through High School.
Chris's spring concert was this evening. Way to go kids!
(That was Viva la Vida, by the way.)

NINJA
A funny graph on Graph Jam? No way!
I giggled. A little.
Looks like I have a shot at "The NIN/JA tour" in Noblesville, IN on 5/30. I already saw the Lights in the Sky show, but I've never seen Jane's Addiction, and it's been fourteen years since I've seen NIN outdoors.

Spring Concert
Chris's spring concert was last night. This is the best video my digital camera will take. It is part of "Simple Gifts".
I think they sound pretty good for Middle Schoolers!

Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld
It has been fifteen years since Kurt Cobain died.
This gets sadder to me as the years pass. I used to love pictures of him when he was young and full of teenage angst.
Now I love the pictures of him and Frances Bean.

Bret Michaels
Hey, Mom, remember in fourth through eighth grade when you told me I was too young to be in love with Bret Michaels?
Turns out, I'm not! I'm really too old. Who knew?
I cannot watch this show. I don't want to see my teen idol with a hair piece. I want to remember him the way he was, as an 8 x 10 pulled out of MetalEdge and taped to my wall.

Anxiety, anxiety keeps me happy.
Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated.
Man, the Ramones sooo understood me :-D
I'm going on 48 hours without the 24 hour allergy medicine. I felt better last night. I went to bed early and slept well.
I feel like a crackhead today. My heartrate is really not up that high, but it feels like it is going crazy. I've got a headache poking me right in the middle of my forehead. Luckily, I'm down to mostly physical symptoms. I do not think the world is going to end anymore.
I'm pissed that the oak trees are getting ready to coat the earth with a thin green film. The oak pollen feels like bunnies on uppers wearing spiked-armor jumping around in my nasal cavity. I can't wait!

Friday Shuffle
I never got to do a Friday Shuffle back when they were all the rage, since I didn't have an iPod. This is probably the first, last and only one I'll ever do :)
City of Blinding Lights U2 How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Icky Thump The White Stripes Icky Thump
Wait Until Tomorrow Jimi Hendrix The Ultimate Experience
Downer Nirvana Incesticide
Territorial Pissings Nirvana Nevermind
Midnight to Midnight Chevelle Vena Sera
Fade Into You Mazzy Star So Tonight I Might See
Happy Phanton Tori Amos Little Earthquakes
Silvergun Superman Stone Temple Pilots Purple
Waking Up in Vegas Katy Perry One of the Boys
I'm still putting my CDs on the computer, then I'd love to replace the tapes, then there's so much more new music... All I need now is time to listen to music again!
Happy Birthday Dennis! My husband is "older than me" for three months and seven days of every year. I love it!

Greg Pollard n' stuff
Greg Pollard, I am sorry that I let the air out of your brand new bike's tires when we were in elementary school. I can't even remember why I did it, but for some unknown reason I remembered doing it while I was blow-drying my hair this morning.
Wow, I bet I wasn't obvious in broad daylight in the middle of your front yard, hunched over your new bike like that.
Anthony Bourdain's New Orleans rerun made me cry.
I told Dennis that if I didn't have connections here,(meaning Chris is entrenched in the St. Charles school district and there would be custody issues), I'd love to move down there right now. Dennis said he would too. Whoa. I'd never considered that angle before. I've always figured we were retiring to rural Missouri. This is cool new information!
It looks like Soldier Field 9/12/09 is going to be the closest U2 stop this time around.

U2 all week
U2 is going to be the musical guest on The Late Show for the next five nights.
I am experimenting with setting my DVR online. I hope they don't play Get on your Boots five nights in a row.
Their tour announcment is due out on March 9th. I hate the idea of paying the ticket prices, but they are on the list of bands I must see play live before they die. I will probably go if they come within driving distance this time around.
Vote for your favorited U2 cd - haha, nobody agrees with me.

Machine wash warm.
Sometime around Halloween Chris left his iPod (2nd Gen 4G Nano)in his pants pocket. During dinner, I said to Dennis, "What is that noise?"
Great, it was a freshly washed and dried iPod. It was dead. Nothing I could do would bring it back. Chris was mad at us. For washing his clothes!
So he got a nice new 4th gen black nano for Christmas. It plays videos! Shaking it shuffles songs! It's got such a cute shape!
For no real reason the other day, I plugged the old iPod into the computer. So now it works. And I have a janky old iPod with a bunch of 12-year-old boy music on it and one chewed up ear bud.
Yes, this is better than my previously non-existent iPod!

Pigs might fly
If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.
Thirty-two years old and it still sounds so good.
