Another Where's George Dollar

Every time we go somewhere, I seem to get one of these Where's George dollars.

The last one was quite soggy, as I got it as change from the snack bar at Mammoth Cave National Park.

I am wearing a dress at work. No joke!

Home & Remodeling Show

We wasted some of our afternoon today going to the The Builders Home & Remodeling Show at the St. Charles Convention Center.

Don't bother.

The space is too small for anyone to set up cool exhibits and the aisles are too small to go around the old people who randomly stop right in front of you.

Symphonic Dog

Lacey went to the symphony.

Classical music outdoors is a good thing.

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra played a free concert in Forest Park last night. We had a nice picnic dinner and hung out with our dog. They played songs everyone must know, like the "beef commercial" song (Hoe-down from Copeland's Rodeo) and the "Bugs Bunny song" (Overture from The Barber of Seville). Oh, and the Star Wars theme too!

Then there were fireworks. Lacey jumped in my lap and hid her head in the crook of my arm for that part.

Five years

It's been five years since I quit smoking.

I haven't had a single puff since that day.

I don't think I'll ever start again, but I do still have cravings for my dear friends cigarettes sometimes.

It is a pink mini-Griptilian.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

I've said I'm going to leave my job since the day before I started four years ago and I heard a very damning report from a friend who had just happened to work there for a couple of months.

I've threatened.

I've been upset.

I've updated my resume.

I've even been on interviews, which is why I don't have enough vacation time now to cover all of the things I have planned for the rest of the year.

This time I am really serious. I need to go because I can feel the ship sinking. Everybody is looking for something to do so badly that we've taken to turning on each other.

If I don't go now I'll be a fool.

I couldn't even make it two whole days post-vacation before the urge to walk out came rushing back.

Blah. I hate job interviews.

Re-entry Shock

I am experiencing a bit of reverse culture shock. Having spent more than a week in fairly rural Kentucky, I'm finding my fellow St. Louisians a bit on the rude side.

Back to life, back to reality

I'm back from vacation. Nine days and eight fabulous nights camping across Kentucky. I am editing pictures and blogging through the trip this week.

I've lost my sense of time.

We'll see how that works out at work today...

MoBot & Trader Joe's

We went to Trader Joe's to get some lunch. We wound up with some provolone & salami sandwiches, some microbrew root beer, and these heirloom cherry tomatoes.

Then we went to the Missouri Botanical Garden. I haven't been here for a while, and Dennis and I rarely get to go out alone together.

Groovy

I bought myself a USB lava lamp for $6.00.

It is more of a glitter lamp. It heats up and floats the glitter all around and it has a green, red and blue LEDs that cycle.

Groovay!

I stayed home from work today.

I took two naps!

Censorship Sucks! or Cooter Cleavage

I heard the Camel Toe Song on the radio this morning.

This is the first time since the wardrobe malfunction that I've heard it.

The FCC calling off the dogs is change I can believe in.

Donkey donkey

What do you call a donkey with one leg?
A wonkey donkey.

What do you call a donkey with one leg and one eye?
A winkey wonkey donkey.

What do you call a donkey with one leg and one eye and makin’ love?
A bonkey winkey wonkey donkey.

What do you call a donkey with one leg and one eye makin’ love while breaking wind ?
A stinkey bonkey winkey wonkey donkey.

What do you call a donkey with one leg and one eye makin’ love while breaking wind wearing blue suede shoes?
A honkey tonkey stinkey bonkey winkey wonkey donkey.

What do you call a donkey with one leg and one eye makin’ love while breaking wind wearing blue suede shoes and playing the piano?
A plinkey plonkey honkey tonkey stinkey bonkey winkey wonkey donkey.

What do you call a tiny donkey with one leg and one eye makin’ love while breaking wind wearing blue suede shoes and playing the piano?
A dinkey plinkey plonkey honkey tonkey stinkey bonkey winkey wonkey donkey.

Commuter

My commute is about 17 miles each way. This is the stuff I usually look at every day.

A catalpa tree on the Lindenwood campus.

Under the St. Charles water tower.

The Blanchette Bridge is the busiest bridge in the state.

Eight lanes over eight lanes with fun flying ramps!

LSX

Metrolink

Alberici's windmill.

Second Monday

My car would not start this morning. With no warning whatsoever.

It went "crank crank crank" "crank crank click" "click click click".

I turned to Chris and said, "You'd better start walking." So off he went, violin case in hand.

I opened the hood and started poking around. Sure enough, the entire protective boot on the positive battery connection was packed with corrosion. EW!

Baking soda watered down to a paste will really clean your battery terminals quickly. After about 40 minutes of cleaning, prying, scraping and rinsing, my car was running again.

I've had it for almost 11 years, and this is the first time I've been late to work because of it, so I guess I can't complain. I still feel like complaining though.

Seven years ago today

It was Kentucky Derby day. I was upset about missing the derby, but I was also enjoying a good time at MoPark 2002. That's where I met Dennis. We knew of each other before this because we were both in the same car club, but this was the day Dennis decided he like me enough to contact me after the fact.

They've even got a picture of me sitting on the picnic table where I had my first big conversation with Dennis. Whatever charming and bewitching things I said, I've now forgotten, but I do remember talking to him for quite a while.

Happy Anniversary

To us!
